In the worker placement game Fields of Arle, set in the German region of East Frisia, players develop an estate and expand their territory by cutting peat and building dikes.

The game lasts nine half-years with alternating summer and winter seasons, and each season allows or denies specific player actions. Different and detailed manufacturing processes allow a player to create goods needed to expand her estate. In addition, trades with adjoining municipalities can help a player gain the needed resources or goods for building and expanding.

Review : A wonderful, thematic worker placement game. There are lots of choices and paths to victory. Two player only which was a bonus for us to have such a strategic deep game. You can always get what you need and it feels less stressful than you might think being reasonably heavy. It accomplishes with some meaningful decision making and optimisation of your turns but sandboxing your game. Sure you can be blocked but that's not a game changer. Fields of Arle is a wonderful puzzle. Highly recommended for small groups and couples. Probably not a new gamers game but medium to experienced. Components are awesome. Thick card for everything and animeeples for tokens. Highly recommended and one our favourites.
